About the Role
The Ward Clerk will support the nursing team by providing efficient administrative services, ensuring smooth communication between departments, and maintaining accurate patient documentation. The role reports to the Unit Manager and plays a key part in maintaining quality patient care standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the nursing team
- Ensure accurate filing and identification of patient documentation
- Manage stock control and billing on the system
- Obtain medical aid authorisations
- Maintain effective communication with patients and staff
- Attend meetings and in-service training sessions
- Uphold hospital safety standards and emergency protocols
- Deliver friendly, professional customer service
- Ensure confidentiality and medico-legal compliance

Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent
- At least 1 year of general administrative experience
- Experience dealing with customers
- Computer literacy (MS Word & Excel essential)
