Job Purpose
The successful candidate will recruit new blood donors, educate the public about the importance of blood donation, assist with donor recruitment campaigns, and help ensure that blood collection targets are achieved while maintaining a safe and sustainable blood supply.
Key Responsibilities
Donor Recruitment
- Recruit new voluntary blood donors.
- Encourage repeat blood donations.
- Promote donor retention initiatives.
- Educate communities about blood donation.
- Help meet daily and monthly donor recruitment targets.
Customer Service
- Welcome donors professionally.
- Answer donor enquiries.
- Resolve customer complaints where appropriate.
- Refer medical concerns to the Clinic Supervisor.
- Ensure every donor enjoys a positive donation experience.
Blood Drive Support
- Prepare venues before blood drives.
- Display posters, banners, flyers, and directional signage.
- Confirm arrangements with blood drive coordinators.
- Assist with setting up and packing away equipment.
- Monitor donor flow to reduce waiting times.
- Provide refreshments to donors where required.
Marketing and Community Engagement
- Support awareness campaigns.
- Participate in community outreach programmes.
- Assist during exhibitions and promotional events.
- Help organise donor awards and recognition events.
- Support media launches and donor marketing activities.
Administration and Reporting
- Submit weekly recruitment reports.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Update personnel files.
- Attend meetings and training sessions.
- Follow SANBS policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Marketing or Public Relations Certificate (minimum six months)
- Valid Code B Manual Driver’s Licence
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
Experience
- Previous work experience is not required.
- Recent graduates and entry-level applicants are encouraged to apply.
