The (RAF) is inviting applications from unemployed young South Africans for a 12-month Technology & Digital Learnership Programme in Pretoria, Gauteng.

The programme is designed to provide young people who have completed Grade 12/Matric only with practical workplace exposure and foundational skills in information technology, digital support and ICT administration.

Purpose of the Learnership

The RAF Technology & Digital Learnership is aimed at empowering unemployed South African youth through structured workplace learning and practical exposure.

Successful learners will have the opportunity to develop basic technology and digital support skills while gaining experience in an organisational ICT environment.

Work-based exposure may include desktop support, hardware troubleshooting, software support, device management, ICT asset verification and user assistance.

Key Learning Areas and Responsibilities

Learners may receive practical exposure to:

  • Troubleshooting computer hardware, operating systems, software and user profiles.
  • Assisting with connectivity and general desktop-related problems.
  • Installing, configuring and troubleshooting business applications.
  • Supporting employees with basic ICT-related queries.
  • Monitoring and managing devices through Microsoft Intune.
  • Checking device compliance against organisational policies.
  • Identifying non-compliant devices and assisting with corrective actions.
  • Performing manual security patches and software updates.
  • Responding to ICT calls and incidents logged with the regional ICT team.
  • Providing technical assistance to users.
  • Diagnosing and resolving basic IT problems.
  • Troubleshooting computers, monitors, keyboards, mice, docking stations and other ICT equipment.
  • Conducting ICT asset verification.
  • Ensuring technology equipment is correctly recorded and accounted for.
  • Troubleshooting printer connectivity, drivers, configurations and hardware issues.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
  • A certified copy of their Grade 12/Matric certificate.
  • A certified copy of their South African ID.
  • A short CV.
  • A motivational letter explaining why they should be considered.

The opportunity is specifically aimed at young people aged 18 to 23 years who have completed Matric/Grade 12 only.

Important Eligibility Conditions

Applicants must:

  • Be unemployed.
  • Not have been previously employed in the field of the advertised learnership.
  • Not have previously participated in a learnership programme in the relevant field.
  • Not have previously served as a learner.
  • Disclose any previous learner experience.
  • Be available for the full learnership period.
  • Be willing to undergo security vetting.

The RAF will conduct verification checks as part of the selection process, including checks relating to previous employment.

Stipend

Successful learners will receive a monthly stipend for the duration of the learnership.
