About the Role
The Lost Property Administrator is responsible for overseeing all lost property received from FlySafair stations across South Africa. The role involves tracking, documenting, storing, and returning passenger belongings while ensuring all company procedures and aviation regulations are followed.
You will communicate directly with passengers, airport staff, courier companies, baggage teams, security personnel, and other internal departments to ensure lost items are handled professionally and efficiently.
This position requires excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to deliver exceptional customer service in a fast-paced airline environment.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Collect lost property from FlySafair airport stations.
- Sort and organise lost property according to collection dates and storage periods.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of all lost items.
- Capture and update lost property records using company systems.
- Ensure valuable and sensitive items are securely stored.
- Arrange for identified property to be returned to airport stations for passenger collection.
- Coordinate courier deliveries where passengers cannot collect items personally.
- Trace owners of passports, identity documents, driver’s licences, bank cards, and other important documents.
- Liaise with airport authorities and security regarding sensitive items.
- Respond to passenger enquiries regarding lost property.
- Assist the Call Centre team with lost property investigations.
- Work closely with baggage handling teams to resolve passenger cases.
- Prepare monthly lost property reports and statistics.
- Coordinate charity donations for unclaimed items in accordance with company policy.
- Train staff at various FlySafair stations on lost property procedures.
- Ensure compliance with aviation security and company policies.
- Keep the lost property facility clean, secure, and well organised.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should possess:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.
- 1–3 years’ experience in:
- Warehousing
- Contact Centre
- Customer Service
- Logistics
- Administration
- Retail stock control
- Or a related environment.
- Valid South African driver’s licence.
- Computer literacy with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Basic understanding of warehouse and inventory management principles.
