The City of Ekurhuleni is seeking a reliable and motivated individual to fill the position of Driver Messenger: Inventory & Logistics within the Finance Department. This permanent opportunity is ideal for candidates with a valid driver’s licence, PrDP, and experience in logistics, stores, inventory, or supply chain operations.

Successful applicants will play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of documents, mail, and goods while supporting the municipality’s inventory and logistics functions.

Salary

  • R215,616 – R295,764 per annum (basic salary)

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 10 or an equivalent NQF Level 2 qualification
  • A valid Code 8 driver’s licence
  • A valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP)
  • Between 1 and 2 years of experience in a corporate, logistics, inventory, warehouse, courier, or supply chain environment
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage daily delivery schedules
  • Knowledge of safe driving practices and road traffic regulations

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Delivering and collecting official documents, parcels, equipment, and goods
  • Ensuring deliveries are completed accurately and on time
  • Transporting confidential documents securely
  • Assisting with inventory movement between municipal offices and facilities
  • Maintaining delivery records and obtaining proof of delivery where required
  • Conducting routine vehicle inspections before and after trips
  • Reporting vehicle faults, accidents, or maintenance requirements promptly
  • Ensuring Council vehicles are clean, roadworthy, and used only for authorised duties
  • Following municipal policies relating to transport, logistics, governance, and risk management
  • Monitoring fuel usage and helping prevent misuse of municipal resources
  • Providing professional customer service to internal and external stakeholders
  • Supporting inventory and logistics operations as required by the department
