About the South African Board for Sheriffs (SABFS)
The South African Board for Sheriffs (SABFS) is responsible for maintaining the integrity and professional standards of sheriffs throughout South Africa. The Board promotes excellence in training, regulates the profession, and contributes towards improving access to justice for all South Africans.
Job Purpose
The successful candidates will be responsible for registering, evaluating, processing and managing complaints received by the Board within prescribed timeframes. The position reports directly to the Manager: Complaints Officer.
Key Responsibilities
Successful applicants will be expected to:
- Register, process, resolve or escalate complaints.
- Receive complaints and enquiries via telephone, email and in person.
- Resolve complaint enquiries fairly and within required timelines.
- Assist members of the public with lodging complaints.
- Categorise and allocate complaints to relevant Complaints Administrators.
- Acknowledge receipt of complaints and enquiries.
- Track complaint progress and maintain complaint schedules.
- Provide complainants with updates regarding the status of complaints.
- Liaise with internal departments to obtain information and supporting documents.
- Escalate complex, sensitive or high-risk complaints to the Complaints Officer.
- Assist with administration, case files, documentation and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with organisational policies, procedures and service standards.
- Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to resolve complex issues.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must possess:
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- A relevant Legal Degree (LLB) or equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience in a legal environment dealing with civil (litigation) processes.
- General knowledge of legislation, including:
- The Sheriffs Act.
- Relevant regulations.
- The Code of Conduct.
