About the Role

The successful candidate will support the maintenance, testing, verification, installation, and upgrading of water meters across Rand Water’s operational network. The role involves travelling to various sites to perform field inspections, collect flow and pressure data, conduct meter verification tests, calibrate equipment, and assist with infrastructure projects that ensure accurate water measurement and reliable service delivery.

This position combines technical field work with administrative responsibilities and requires strict adherence to health, safety, and quality standards.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or N3 qualification
  • Valid South African driver’s licence
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar technical or maintenance environment

Added Advantage

Key Responsibilities

The Workshop Assistant Meters will be responsible for:

  • Conducting planned maintenance on flow meters
  • Installing and removing ultrasonic clamp-on equipment for in-situ verification
  • Installing, configuring and removing flow and pressure data loggers
  • Performing meter verification at customer and operational sites
  • Assisting with meter upgrades and replacement projects
  • Supporting internal and external engineering projects
  • Recording test results and completing technical reports
  • Performing routine administrative duties
  • Reporting equipment defects and safety hazards
  • Ensuring compliance with Rand Water maintenance procedures
  • Following health, safety and environmental regulations
  • Assisting with troubleshooting faulty metering equipment
