About the Role
The Warehouse Supervisor will support the management team in overseeing daily warehouse operations and leading a team consisting of Team Leaders, Operators, Auditors, and General Workers. The role focuses on achieving operational targets, maintaining inventory accuracy, ensuring safety compliance, and driving continuous improvement across warehouse activities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient inbound operations, supervising staff performance, maintaining service excellence, and fostering a productive workplace culture aligned with Maersk’s values.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily inbound warehouse activities and stock movements.
- Ensure accurate receiving, scanning, storage, and inventory control processes.
- Supervise Team Leaders, Operators, Auditors, and General Workers.
- Monitor shipment arrivals and ensure timely offloading of trucks.
- Conduct stock audits and quality checks to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Utilize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP platforms.
- Prepare and maintain operational reports and performance records.
- Enforce warehouse safety procedures and PPE compliance.
- Manage employee attendance, discipline, and workplace conduct.
- Lead staff meetings, toolbox talks, and engagement initiatives.
- Ensure company assets and consumables are properly controlled.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the warehouse.
- Monitor and report on warehouse KPIs and operational targets.
Minimum Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric Certificate.
- Qualification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field will be advantageous.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in warehouse or supply chain operations.
- At least 1–2 years of supervisory experience in a warehouse environment.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Experience using ERP systems and reporting tools.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
