Job Purpose

The Officer: Finance Support is responsible for providing regional financial support through the administration and processing of claims payments. The role ensures that all claims payments are valid, accurate, complete, and processed within established turnaround times while maintaining strict compliance with financial controls, accounting principles, and RAF policies.

The successful candidate will play a key role in preventing duplicate payments, resolving stakeholder queries, supporting financial reporting, and maintaining effective internal controls.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Claims Payment Administration

  • Verify and approve claims payments according to delegated authority limits.
  • Confirm the accuracy, validity, completeness, and existence of payment transactions.
  • Review supporting documentation before authorising payments.
  • Verify payee information and banking details.
  • Prevent duplicate payments through financial control measures.
  • Ensure compliance with RAF payment procedures.
  • Resolve payment-related queries efficiently.
  • Maintain strong relationships with claimants, attorneys, firms, and colleagues.
  • Monitor payment turnaround times and service standards.

Financial Management

  • Implement financial management principles during claims payment processing.
  • Ensure adherence to RAF policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assess supporting payment documents for validity and completeness.
  • Strengthen internal financial controls.

Minimum Requirements

Educational Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Financial Accounting, Accounting, or

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience in a financial environment.
