Main Purpose of the Role
The Ward Clerk / Stock Controller is responsible for supporting the smooth operation of the Cardiac Ward through efficient administration, stock control, patient billing, scheduling, and coordination of office activities. The role requires exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, confidentiality, and strong organisational skills.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and secretarial support to the Unit Manager.
- Manage and control ward stock, including high-value surgical and ethical stock.
- Monitor stock levels and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Complete trauma billing accurately and within required timeframes.
- Process patient billing and ensure billing accuracy.
- Manage consignment stock in collaboration with medical representatives.
- Coordinate meetings, appointments, schedules, and calendars.
- Welcome and coordinate external visitors.
- Order office and ward supplies when required.
- Maintain patient and administrative records.
- Answer telephone calls professionally and assist with enquiries.
- Ensure compliance with Life Healthcare policies and hospital procedures.
- Support the daily administrative operations of the Cardiac Ward.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in an administrative or stock controller position.
- Experience within a private hospital or healthcare environment will be advantageous.
- Excellent computer literacy, including:
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Microsoft Outlook
- Email systems
- Knowledge of hospital information systems such as Impilo and SAP will be advantageous.
- Previous customer service experience.
