About the Role
As a Utilities Operator: Boiler, you will be responsible for safely operating and monitoring steam boilers while ensuring uninterrupted steam supply to production. The role also involves carrying out inspections, performing first-line maintenance, maintaining safety compliance, and supporting overall utilities operations.
Key Responsibilities
Boiler Operations
- Operate and monitor industrial steam boilers.
- Perform safe boiler start-up and shutdown procedures.
- Maintain correct steam pressure and temperature.
- Adjust fuel, air, and water feed systems for efficient performance.
Boiler House Inspections
- Conduct routine safety inspections.
- Monitor gauges, valves, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Complete hourly operational logs.
- Maintain a clean and safe boiler house.
Safety & Compliance
- Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Follow Pressure Equipment Regulations (PER).
- Support statutory inspections.
- Maintain boiler certification records and compliance documentation.
Maintenance Support
- Perform first-line boiler maintenance.
- Identify and report equipment faults.
- Assist maintenance teams during planned shutdowns.
- Ensure tools and equipment remain in good condition.
Operational Support
- Monitor fuel and water consumption.
- Assist with boiler water treatment monitoring.
- Support other utility systems including compressors and refrigeration when required.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science
- Valid Boiler Operator Certificate (Minimum Second Class)
- 2–3 years of industrial steam boiler operating experience
- Experience with boiler water treatment
- Knowledge of high-pressure steam systems
- Basic computer literacy
- Knowledge of OHS Act and Pressure Equipment Regulations
Advantageous Qualifications
- Trade Certificate (Fitter or Millwright)
- Experience in FMCG, food manufacturing, or beverage production
