About the Role
Old Mutual is seeking a highly skilled Senior Administrator to investigate death benefit claims on behalf of the trustees of the South African Retirement Annuity Fund (SARAF). The successful candidate will identify and trace beneficiaries, investigate their personal circumstances, and make recommendations on the allocation and payment of death benefits in accordance with applicable legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate death benefit claims received by SARAF.
- Identify and trace dependants and nominees of deceased members.
- Assess the personal circumstances of beneficiaries.
- Recommend appropriate death benefit allocations and payment methods.
- Ensure compliance with the Pension Funds Act and the Fund’s rules.
- Interpret and apply relevant legislation, including Section 37C of the Pension Funds Act.
- Conduct professional interviews and gather supporting information.
- Maintain accurate case management records and audit trails.
- Compile detailed investigation reports.
- Liaise with Death Benefit Allocation Specialists and the Death Claims Sub-committee on complex cases.
- Perform additional administrative duties as required.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12).
- Working knowledge of Old Mutual internal systems, including Omunet, Compass, AWD and Craft.
- At least 2 years’ experience working with Section 37C of the Pension Funds Act, including:
- Identification and investigation of dependants and nominees.
- Death benefit allocation recommendations.
- Payment method recommendations.
