About the Role

The City of Ekurhuleni is recruiting a Security Clerk: Safety & Security to provide professional security services at municipal bus stations and other City facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for protecting municipal property, ensuring the safety of employees and visitors, monitoring security systems, responding to emergencies, and delivering excellent customer service to the public.

Key Responsibilities

  • Protect municipal buildings, infrastructure, vehicles and other City assets from theft, vandalism and unauthorized access.
  • Conduct routine patrols inside and outside municipal buildings and bus stations.
  • Monitor CCTV systems, alarm systems and other electronic security equipment.
  • Respond quickly to security alarms, incidents and emergencies.
  • Control access to municipal facilities and verify visitors entering the premises.
  • Observe and report suspicious or unusual behaviour.
  • Work closely with the South African Police Service, Metro Police and other law enforcement agencies.
  • Issue parking enforcement control tickets where required.
  • Provide first aid assistance during emergencies until medical personnel arrive.
  • Respond to public complaints, incidents and service requests professionally.
  • Answer telephone enquiries and direct members of the public to the relevant municipal departments.
  • Prepare incident reports and maintain accurate security records.
  • Help ensure compliance with municipal safety and security policies.

Employment Conditions

  • Obtain any required MFMA minimum competency qualification within 18 months of appointment if necessary.
