About the Role

As a Relief Blood Bank Technologist, you will perform routine blood bank testing and ensure accurate laboratory results that support safe blood transfusion services. The successful candidate will also verify test results completed by Blood Bank Technicians, Trainee Technicians, and Student Technologists while maintaining the highest standards of quality and patient safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine blood bank laboratory testing.
  • Conduct compatibility testing.
  • Perform post-natal investigations.
  • Carry out preliminary transfusion reaction investigations.
  • Verify laboratory results completed by technicians and trainees.
  • Maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with quality assurance and risk management standards.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to healthcare clients.
  • Complete laboratory administration accurately.

Minimum Requirements

  • Registered with the HPCSA as a Medical Technologist (Blood Transfusion).
  • Relevant experience required for HPCSA registration.
  • Strong laboratory and blood grouping skills.
  • Good administrative and computer skills.
