Internship Purpose
The Claims Investigator Internship aims to expose graduates to the day-to-day responsibilities of professional investigators while providing practical training in accident investigations, evidence collection, fraud detection, legal documentation, and report writing.
Interns will work alongside experienced investigators and gain insight into the complete claims investigation process.
Key Responsibilities
During the internship, successful candidates may be required to:
- Trace insured drivers, witnesses, and other relevant parties.
- Conduct interviews and obtain sworn statements.
- Visit accident scenes and perform on-site investigations (in loco inspections).
- Draw and interpret accident scene sketch plans.
- Collect and preserve evidence.
- Participate in investigation assessments.
- Verify legal and attorney documentation.
- Handle PAIA (Promotion of Access to Information Act) requests.
- Identify suspicious claims involving fraud or corruption.
- Escalate fraud and corruption matters to the Fraud Investigation Department (FID).
- Assist with Loss of Support investigations.
- Analyse available evidence.
- Prepare professional investigation reports.
- Maintain accurate investigation records.
- Support senior investigators during complex investigations.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 7) in:
- Policing
- Criminal Justice
- Forensic Investigation
- Law
- Or another related qualification
- Valid South African driver’s licence
