Job Summary

Rand Water is seeking ten experienced Quality Control Officers to oversee construction projects and ensure all contractor work complies with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations. Successful candidates will serve as the client’s representative on-site, monitoring workmanship, materials, compliance, and project progress.

Minimum Requirements

  • National Diploma or Certificate in Building, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in construction inspection or site supervision.
  • Sound knowledge of construction standards, building regulations, and quality control procedures.
  • Strong reporting, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

Preferred Qualification

  • Registration with a relevant professional body such as ECSA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect construction works to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
  • Monitor contractor activities and identify defects or non-compliance issues.
  • Maintain accurate site records, inspection reports, and progress reports.
  • Verify the quality of materials and workmanship on-site.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations.
  • Liaise with engineers, architects, contractors, and project managers.
  • Participate in site meetings and prepare inspection documentation.

Knowledge Requirements

  • Civil engineering principles and practices.
  • Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) processes.
  • South African construction standards and regulations, including SANS and API requirements.
  • Construction methods, materials, and techniques.
  • Inspection, testing, and reporting procedures.
