Job Purpose

The Procurement Assistant is responsible for supporting hospitals, regional offices, and corporate departments in sourcing, ordering, and managing suppliers. The role ensures that medical equipment, goods, and services are procured efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with financial and legal standards.

This position plays a key role in ensuring that healthcare facilities receive the correct equipment at the right price and time.


Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • 1–2 years experience in procurement, finance, purchasing, or medical environment
  • Basic understanding of procurement systems
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office: Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Procurement, Finance, or related field
  • Experience in healthcare or medical equipment procurement

Key Responsibilities

  • Process purchase requisitions into approved purchase orders
  • Use SAP S/4HANA and procurement systems for order management
  • Request and compare supplier quotations
  • Communicate with hospitals, suppliers, and internal departments
  • Monitor procurement progress and provide updates on timelines
  • Ensure compliance with VAT, budget, and financial regulations
  • Maintain accurate master data and procurement codes
  • Support selection of medical equipment and suppliers
  • Provide guidance on product specifications and suitability
  • Assist in resolving procurement delays or issues
