Job Purpose

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist to support dispensing, stock control, ward supply, and pharmacy administration. The role ensures safe medication management and smooth pharmacy operations within the hospital.


Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric (NQF Level 4 or equivalent)
  • Post-Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant certification
  • Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar pharmacy role
  • Computer literacy (MS Office and pharmacy systems)
  • Experience in private healthcare is advantageous


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists with prescription dispensing (inpatients and outpatients)
  • Ensure accurate interpretation and preparation of prescriptions (under supervision)
  • Supply and manage surgical and ethical ward stock
  • Assist with stock control, audits, and cyclical stock counts
  • Support pharmacy ordering and inventory management processes
  • Provide drug information services under pharmacist supervision
  • Perform aseptic compounding of mixtures following GPP standards
  • Maintain accurate pharmacy records and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with hospital and pharmacy policies
  • Carry out general administrative and housekeeping duties in the pharmacy
