About the Role

The Payroll Administrator plays a critical role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time every month. The successful candidate will process payroll transactions, maintain payroll records, reconcile payroll-related accounts, prepare payroll reports, and ensure compliance with statutory and company payroll requirements.

This position requires excellent attention to detail, strong analytical abilities, and the ability to manage confidential employee information with integrity and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Capturing and processing monthly payroll transactions.
  • Processing new employee appointments, transfers, promotions, and resignations.
  • Performing payroll validation and dummy payroll runs before salary payments.
  • Ensuring accurate salary calculations and deductions.
  • Processing overtime, leave adjustments, allowances, bonuses, and reimbursements.
  • Reconciling payroll control accounts.
  • Reconciling medical aid, provident fund, pension fund, and union deductions.
  • Preparing SARS submissions and payroll-related statutory payments.
  • Generating payroll reports for management and finance.
  • Maintaining employee payroll files and records.
  • Updating employee medical aid information.
  • Assisting with payroll audits and compliance checks.
  • Managing payroll stationery and administrative requirements.
  • Responding to payroll queries from employees professionally and efficiently.
  • Ensuring strict confidentiality of payroll information.
  • Supporting continuous improvements in payroll systems and processes.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should possess:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics or Accounting at Higher Grade.
  • A recognised Payroll qualification.
  • At least five years’ general payroll experience.
  • At least five years’ payroll administration experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of payroll legislation and payroll best practices.

Knowledge and Technical Skills

  • PAYE, UIF and SDL regulations.
  • SARS payroll requirements.
