JOB OVERVIEW

The Department of Health is currently recruiting 2 Messengers to provide essential administrative and logistics support within a hospital environment. This role plays a key part in ensuring smooth movement of patient files, documents, and medical samples within the facility.

This opportunity is ideal for candidates with basic education and prior exposure in a healthcare or messenger-related role.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 10–12 or equivalent (NQF Level 3–5)
  • At least 1 year experience in a hospital environment or messenger duties
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude towards patients, staff, and visitors
  • Understanding of Batho Pele Principles
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a team

KEY DUTIES

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Collecting and distributing patient files across hospital departments
  • Transporting blood samples between the blood bank and laboratory
  • Sorting patient files and loose documentation
  • Performing routine administrative messenger duties accurately
  • Acting as a relief staff member when required
  • Carrying out additional tasks assigned by supervisors
