About the Position

The Gauteng Department of Health is recruiting 10 Material Recording Clerks within its Supply Chain Management Directorate. The position involves clerical, inventory, procurement, stock-control and data-capturing responsibilities.

This is an important opportunity for Grade 12 candidates, as no experience is required for the basic entry requirement.

  • Grade 12 with 3 years’ relevant public-sector Supply Chain Management experience
  • National Diploma or Degree with 12–18 months’ Supply Chain Management experience
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams

  • Knowledge of Demand, Acquisition, Inventory Management and Transit functions
  • Code C1 driver’s licence

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidates may be responsible for:

Inventory Management

  • Issuing physical and theoretical stock
  • Applying appropriate stock-rotation methods such as FIFO, LIFO and LEFO
  • Recording stock movements accurately
  • Conducting sample and periodic stock takes
  • Maintaining stock control
  • Monitoring minimum and maximum stock levels
  • Arranging timely replenishment
  • Preparing monthly stock reconciliations

Demand and Acquisition

  • Registering end-user requirements
  • Assisting with RFQ administration
  • Generating shopping carts and purchase orders
  • Following up and expediting purchase orders
  • Responding to end-user queries
  • Reporting on procurement progress

Receiving and Data Capturing

  • Supporting receiving and transit functions
  • Receiving and verifying deliveries
  • Capturing GRN/GRV information on SAP/SRM
  • Updating weekly receipts reports
  • Maintaining relevant records and files

General Administration

  • Handling departmental queries
  • Preparing reports
  • Managing the 0–9 file
  • Supporting the Expediting Office
  • Assisting Stores personnel
  • Performing other allocated Supply Chain Management duties
