Featured Position: Electoral Officer
Job Type: Election Contract
Remuneration: R1,320 – R3,000 for the duration of the election event (depending on the role, number of days worked and statutory deductions).

Job Purpose
Electoral Officers assist the IEC in planning, coordinating and implementing election activities at voting stations. Successful candidates help ensure that elections are conducted efficiently, transparently and in accordance with South African electoral legislation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with voter registration activities.
- Prepare voting stations before polling day.
- Verify voter details and manage election documentation.
- Guide voters through the voting process.
- Assist with issuing ballot papers.
- Support vote counting and reconciliation after polls close.
- Ensure compliance with IEC policies and procedures.
- Safeguard election materials and equipment.
- Work closely with Presiding Officers and election staff.
- Perform other election-related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements
Requirements may vary depending on the position, but applicants are generally expected to:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Have a valid South African ID.
- Be able to read and write English and at least one official language spoken in the area.
- Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be willing to work extended hours, including weekends and public holidays during election periods.
- Have no political party office-bearer responsibilities that could create a conflict of interest.
- Previous election experience will be an added advantage but is not always required.
