What the Successful Candidate Will Do

The Driver (Forklift) will report to the Artisan Coordinator and assist with operational and engineering activities at the smelter.

Key duties include:

  • Operating forklifts in the workplace
  • Driving tractors when required
  • Operating light delivery vehicles
  • Moving and transporting materials, equipment and items required for operations
  • Supporting artisans and engineering-related activities
  • Ensuring vehicles and equipment are operated responsibly
  • Following applicable workplace procedures and safety requirements
  • Completing duties assigned by the Artisan Coordinator
  • Working overtime when operational requirements demand it
  • Participating in shift work during shutdown periods

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Driver’s Licence – Code 08 or Code 10
  • Forklift Driver’s Licence
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience
  • Experience in a heavy-industry environment
  • Good communication skills

Experience That May Be Relevant

Candidates with experience in environments such as mining, smelting, manufacturing, engineering, warehousing, logistics or other heavy industrial operations may find their previous experience relevant, provided it meets the requirements of the vacancy.

Practical experience operating forklifts and other industrial vehicles can be particularly important for this type of position.
