Remuneration

Successful candidates will receive:

• Daily rate: R370 per day

Job Purpose

The purpose of these positions is to support voter registration initiatives and other Electoral Commission programmes at voting station level. Successful candidates will assist with voter engagement, registration activities, communication campaigns, logistical support, and administrative functions to ensure smooth electoral operations.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

• Be a South African citizen
• Be a registered voter
• Have a valid South African Identity Document
• Possess a valid bank account
• Have basic technology skills, including the ability to operate a smartphone or similar device
• Be proficient in the local languages spoken within the municipality
• Have no serious criminal convictions

Political Neutrality Requirements

To maintain the Electoral Commission’s independence and impartiality, applicants:

• Must not have held political office within the last five years
• Must not have been a candidate in any election within the last five years
• Must not have actively campaigned for or represented a political party during the past five years
• Must not have served in organisations with party-political affiliations or objectives within the last five years

Please note that individuals appearing on a political party candidate list may have their appointment terminated immediately.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Depending on the position appointed to, responsibilities may include:

• Operating registration devices such as Zip-Zip machines and Voter Management Devices (VMDs)
• Distributing voter education and communication materials
• Informing communities about changes to voting stations
• Supporting outreach and registration events
• Completing administrative documentation accurately
• Assisting with the collection, return and safeguarding of registration equipment
• Providing logistical and operational support during registration drives
