The is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for the permanent position of Driver Operator: Water Tanker / Hi-up Truck / TLB within the Water & Sanitation Department. This opportunity is ideal for experienced heavy vehicle operators with a valid Code 14 license and practical experience operating municipal or construction-related machinery and equipment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating heavy-duty vehicles and equipment safely and efficiently while supporting water and sanitation service delivery across designated areas within the municipality.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 10 certificate or equivalent qualification
  • Valid Code 14 driver’s license with PrDP
  • Relevant operator training certificates
  • Physically fit and able to perform operational duties
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar working environment

Key Responsibilities

The appointed candidate will be expected to:

  • Operate water tankers, Hi-up trucks, TLBs, trailers, and related heavy machinery safely and responsibly
  • Transport equipment, machinery, and materials to and from operational sites
  • Maintain vacuum and chemical toilets while renewing related utility services where required
  • Record and submit daily water usage reports and operational records
  • Ensure all plant, machinery, vehicles, and equipment remain in good working condition
  • Identify operational problems and resolve issues within approved guidelines
  • Escalate unresolved technical or operational issues when necessary
  • Comply with municipal policies, standard operating procedures, and legislative requirements
  • Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety regulations and related by-laws
  • Assist in preventing resource wastage and reporting associated risks
