Cashier Job Description

Fedics is hiring a Cashier to join its team in New Germany, Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling cash and card transactions, providing excellent customer service, supporting food preparation and maintaining high standards of hygiene and quality.

The Cashier will serve as an important point of contact for customers, ensuring that transactions are completed accurately and efficiently while creating a positive customer experience.

Fedics is part of Tsebo Solutions Group, an African integrated workplace management solutions provider operating across catering, facilities management, cleaning and hygiene, pest control, protection, energy, procurement and other services.

Cashier Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Handling cash and card transactions accurately.
  • Operating the till efficiently.
  • Following all cash management policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining accountability for company funds.
  • Providing excellent customer service.
  • Building and maintaining positive customer relationships.
  • Preparing meals, fast foods and sandwiches.
  • Assisting with the preparation and serving of food and beverages.
  • Maintaining high hygiene and cleaning standards.
  • Ensuring food items are prepared quickly and consistently.
  • Presenting food attractively and maintaining quality standards.
  • Assisting with stock-takes.
  • Supporting loss-prevention procedures.
  • Assisting with the implementation of cash controls.
  • Working efficiently in a busy environment.
  • Maintaining warm and professional contact with customers.

Skills and Competencies

  • Previous cash-handling experience.
  • Good customer relations skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Good hygiene and quality standards.
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
  • A proven track record.
  • Good punctuality and professional presentation.
  • Knowledge of till operations.
  • Strong attention to accuracy when handling transactions.

Cashier Requirements

Minimum qualification:

  • Matric / Grade 12.

Experience:

  • Previous cash-handling experience is required.
  • Previous catering or food-service experience will be an advantage but is not essential.
