Curro is seeking a Bus Driver to join Courtney House in Brooklyn. The successful candidate will be responsible for safe learner transportation while also supporting general maintenance, gardening, health and safety and facility-related duties.
Job Purpose
The Bus Driver will safely transport learners and staff according to prescribed routes and schedules while maintaining the assigned vehicle. The role also includes general worker, garden maintenance, facility support and health and safety responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Learner Transportation
- Drive the school transportation vehicle along prescribed routes and according to scheduled times.
- Pick up and drop off learners at designated stops.
- Transport learners and teachers on school field trips.
- Plan appropriate routes and stops when required.
- Maintain order and appropriate discipline among learner passengers.
General Worker and Facility Duties
- Provide general maintenance and facility support.
- Respond to maintenance requests.
- Conduct daily checks of school facilities.
- Perform general maintenance tasks where required, including basic plumbing.
- Report repairs and maintenance requirements to the Facilities Manager.
- Assist with general facility maintenance.
- Monitor maintenance consumables and report requirements.
- Safely store and maintain maintenance tools.
- Provide general support with security and access control.
- Assist with traffic management around the school.
Garden Maintenance
- Follow the daily work roster and assigned gardening duties.
- Maintain grass, flower beds and other landscaped areas.
- Clean and maintain the school garden.
- Report gardening requirements to the Facilities Manager.
- Monitor gardening consumables.
- Store and maintain gardening tools.
Health and Safety
- Conduct daily safety and operational inspections of the assigned vehicle.
- Report mechanical problems and required repairs.
- Service the bus with fuel, oil and other required fluids.
- Check and maintain tyres and batteries when necessary.
- Participate in safety drills as required by legislation.
- Complete required safety reports.
- Keep the vehicle clean and in safe operating condition.
- Attend relevant safety, first aid and training meetings.
Record Keeping
- Complete mileage records and other required reports.
- Record passenger counts and other transportation information accurately.

Minimum Requirements
- Valid EC1 or C1 driver’s licence for heavy motor vehicles up to 16,000 kg.
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
- Fluent in English.
- Ability to perform general worker and maintenance-related duties.
- Experience driving a school bus or similar vehicle will be an advantage.
- Ability to perform various duties associated with a school driver position.
- Good punctuality and time-management skills.
- Must be helpful, energetic, responsible and reliable.
- Willingness to work overtime when required.
