Job Purpose

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and monitoring the company’s Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) management system, promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring legal compliance, and supporting operational teams in maintaining a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and monitor SHE policies and procedures.
  • Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRA).
  • Perform routine workplace inspections, audits and safety walks.
  • Lead and coordinate 5S workplace improvement initiatives.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses, recommending corrective actions.
  • Present SHE training sessions and toolbox talks for employees and contractors.
  • Maintain SHE documentation, including audits, incident reports, training records and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other relevant legislation.
  • Promote continuous improvement in workplace safety.
  • Work closely with operational departments to integrate SHE practices into daily operations.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities and contractors when required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science or a related qualification.
  • 2–5 years’ experience in a similar SHE/HSE role.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
  • Working knowledge of SHE standards and compliance requirements.
  • Health and Safety certifications, including:
    • SHE Representative
    • First Aid Level 3
  • Experience with Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA).
