About the Opportunity

is recruiting an Assistant Operator – Beverages Packaging to support its production and packaging operations in Roodekop.

The successful candidate will assist the packaging team by stepping into operational roles when employees are absent or unavailable. The position is important for maintaining production continuity, product quality, workplace safety and daily production targets.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Assistant Operator may be responsible for:

  • Operating and monitoring beverage packaging equipment.
  • Supporting bottling, labelling, sealing and palletising processes.
  • Ensuring packaging materials are available before and during production.
  • Loading bottles, cans, labels, cartons and other packaging materials.
  • Conducting routine checks on packaged products.
  • Identifying packaging defects and reporting quality concerns.
  • Keeping the production and packaging area clean and organised.
  • Following hygiene and food-safety requirements.
  • Following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Reporting machinery problems and safety hazards to supervisors.
  • Assisting with packaging-material stock and inventory control.
  • Supporting different production lines when required.
  • Working with colleagues to achieve daily production targets.
  • Maintaining consistent quality and accuracy throughout the shift.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates should have:

  • A Grade 12 / high school qualification or equivalent.
  • Ability to understand and follow technical and operational instructions.
  • Basic machinery-operating ability.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to work across different shifts and production lines.
  • Ability to perform repetitive physical duties.
  • Ability to handle moderate lifting and remain standing for extended periods.

Experience

Previous experience in manufacturing, FMCG, production or packaging will be advantageous, but the advert indicates that it is preferred rather than mandatory.

Working Conditions

This position is based in a busy beverage packaging and manufacturing environment. Employees may be required to:

  • Work rotating or different shifts.
  • Work weekends and public holidays when operationally required.
  • Stand for extended periods.
