Job Overview

Capitec Bank is seeking experienced and detail-oriented professionals to join its Recoveries Risk Support team in Cape Town. This opportunity is aimed at building a talent pipeline for future vacancies within the bank’s Collections and Recoveries environment.

The successful candidate will support risk management activities related to recoveries, legal processes, court orders, and attorney engagements while helping ensure compliance with banking legislation and internal policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and review legal documents and court orders.
  • Liaise with attorneys, debt counsellors, and debt collectors.
  • Identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate recoveries-related risks.
  • Support compliance with banking and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct legal research and investigations where required.
  • Analyse and report risk-related information accurately.
  • Maintain professional relationships with third-party service providers.

Minimum Requirements

Experience

  • 5 years’ experience in banking or legal environments with a relevant diploma, OR
  • 2 years’ experience in banking or legal environments with a relevant degree.
  • Experience handling legal documentation and legal matters.
  • Experience working with debt counsellors, debt collectors, or attorneys.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Diploma in Law or Risk and Compliance.

Preferred:

  • Degree or relevant tertiary qualification in Law or Risk and Compliance.

Knowledge Requirements

  • Microsoft Office Suite.
  • National Credit Act (NCA).
  • Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
  • Prescription Act.
  • Client relationship management principles.
  • Third-party stakeholder management.

Advantageous Knowledge

  • Magistrate’s Courts Act and Rules.
  • Legal Practice Act and related regulations.
  • Debt Collectors Act.
  • Risk management and compliance principles.
  • Data analysis and reporting.

Required Skills

  • MS Excel, Word, and Outlook proficiency.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving ability.
  • Administrative and organisational skills.

Ideal Candidate

Candidates with previous banking experience, law firm exposure, paralegal experience, legal drafting skills, financial investigation experience, and advanced Excel knowledge will have a strong advantage.
