What Does an Accounting Clerk Do?

Accounting Clerks will provide financial administration support within the Department of Defence.

Their duties may include:

  • Receiving State monies into the Paymaster General Account.
  • Receiving and verifying payments from clients.
  • Issuing official receipts.
  • Allocating revenue accurately.
  • Preparing and capturing deposits.
  • Capturing transactions on the Financial Management System.
  • Conducting financial enquiries.
  • Safeguarding and issuing Face Value Documents.
  • Maintaining accounting records.
  • Archiving documents for audit purposes.
  • Administering claims on the central Advance System.
  • Capturing related accounting transactions.
