Job Purpose

The Systems Administrator I will execute assigned technical tasks and help ensure the stability and availability of Enterprise Systems Management Tools within the assigned area of responsibility.

The role also provides first-level and occasional second-level technical support, troubleshooting, customer assistance and guidance to technical staff while following defined procedures, standards and Nedbank business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level and occasional second-level IT support and troubleshooting.
  • Manage customer requests and calls while maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Manage systems software configurations and ensure system functionality and data accuracy.
  • Conduct system health checks according to documented procedures and agreed timelines.
  • Provide system access within the approved mandate.
  • Execute implementation plans for new, upgraded and enhanced systems.
  • Monitor system activity trends and work with senior colleagues on future enhancements.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to IT tools, policies and procedures.
  • Support the implementation of approved process and system improvements.
  • Resolve work-related issues using MIS information provided by senior colleagues.
  • Provide timely and effective feedback to team members and stakeholders.
  • Support knowledge management and continuity by sharing technical knowledge with the team.
  • Keep up to date with relevant legislation, industry developments and technology changes.
  • Complete required learning activities and maintain relevant certifications.
  • Contribute to team objectives and Nedbank transformation and corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must have:

  • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate.
  • 1–2 years of IT industry or related experience.
  • Knowledge of Information Technology concepts.
  • Computer literacy and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures and systems.
  • Understanding of multiple operating systems.
  • Knowledge of performance monitoring and tuning.
  • Data analysis skills.
  • Business writing skills.
  • Relevant regulatory knowledge.

Preferred Qualification

An Information Technology Diploma or Degree plus product certification is preferred.

Relevant product certification will be an advantage.
