Price File Coordinator Job Description

Busamed is inviting applications for a Price File Coordinator position within its Pharmacy Department at the Group Management Company in Durban.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate management and maintenance of the Group’s pharmaceutical price file. The role is important in ensuring that pricing information remains current, accurate and aligned with market conditions while supporting the Group’s revenue objectives.

The position will also involve analysing pricing and product data, communicating price changes to relevant stakeholders, preparing reports and ensuring that appropriate controls are in place to prevent unauthorised changes.

Key Responsibilities

Price File Management

  • Manage and maintain the Group’s pharmaceutical price file.
  • Ensure all pricing information is accurate and up to date.
  • Process and maintain changes to pharmaceutical product prices.
  • Monitor price file items and associated rand values.
  • Ensure pricing information is properly captured and maintained on the relevant systems.

Data Analysis and Pricing

  • Analyse product and pricing data.
  • Conduct data analysis to identify appropriate pricing plans.
  • Consider market conditions when reviewing pricing.
  • Monitor product movement and usage patterns.
  • Provide relevant pricing information to support business decisions.
  • Identify discrepancies or unusual pricing information and escalate where necessary.

Communication and Stakeholder Management

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders regarding price file changes.
  • Communicate pricing updates and changes to relevant departments.
  • Interact with pharmacy managers regarding new and revised prices.
  • Respond to pharmaceutical pricing-related enquiries.
  • Serve as a key contact for queries relating to pricing information.

Reporting

  • Prepare reports relating to product movement and usage.
  • Provide pricing information and analysis when requested.
  • Maintain accurate records to support reporting and auditing requirements.
  • Assist management with relevant pricing data and analysis.

Compliance and Controls

  • Ensure vendors comply with applicable company standards.
  • Maintain an audit process for unauthorised price changes.
  • Monitor pricing changes for accuracy and compliance.
  • Investigate discrepancies and escalate irregularities appropriately.
  • Support internal controls relating to pharmaceutical pricing and procurement.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
  • Registration as a Pharmacist Assistant.
  • 1–2 years’ experience in an administrative capacity.
  • Previous healthcare experience in a similar position will be advantageous.
  • Good understanding of pharmaceutical procurement processes.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of SAP or a related platform.

Experience Advantage

Experience within a healthcare, pharmacy, pharmaceutical procurement or hospital environment will be beneficial. Candidates who have previously worked with pharmaceutical product information, pricing systems, SAP or pharmacy administration may have an advantage.
