PACKAGING PROCESS ARTISAN – ELECTRICAL
The South African Breweries (SAB), part of AB InBev, is recruiting a qualified Packaging Process Artisan to join its production team at Alrode Brewery in Gauteng.
This role is focused on the effective operation of packaging processes, routine equipment maintenance, quality control, problem-solving, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will work closely with production and maintenance teams to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently while meeting required quality and production standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be expected to:
• Operate the assigned process area in line with approved work instructions and operating standards. • Monitor production processes and ensure that performance remains aligned with required targets. • Conduct non-destructive quality checks and analyses as specified in the relevant work instructions. • Accurately record quality results, production information, and waste on the required systems or documentation. • Monitor waste trends and identify potential production problems or improvement opportunities. • Respond quickly to process interruptions and production stoppages. • Apply appropriate problem-solving methods to identify the root causes of operational issues. • Escalate unresolved or complex problems to the Team Leader when necessary. • Perform housekeeping duties and maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment. • Apply 5S principles and ensure that unsafe working practices are identified and corrected. • Support fellow team members in completing operational and maintenance-related activities.
MAINTENANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and inspection of machinery. • Carry out routine maintenance activities according to the maintenance schedule. • Follow maintenance instructions and schedules provided by the Maintenance Planner. • Identify equipment issues during routine maintenance and escalate major problems appropriately. • Participate in planned maintenance and equipment cleaning days. • Support maintenance teams and specialists when required. • Participate in maintenance postmortems and discussions aimed at preventing recurring equipment problems. • Monitor equipment and maintenance trends to identify underlying issues. • Assist in implementing corrective actions when maintenance or process problems are identified.
QUALITY AND PROCESS CONTROL
The Process Artisan will play an important role in maintaining production quality by performing required quality checks during operations.
Responsibilities include:
• Conducting quality checks according to established procedures. • Recording and reporting quality results accurately. • Identifying production that does not meet required quality standards. • Investigating potential causes of quality problems. • Taking appropriate corrective action where possible. • Escalating unresolved quality issues to the Team Leader for further direction.
COMMUNICATION AND TEAMWORK
• Participate actively in shift meetings and team discussions. • Ask questions and contribute ideas that can improve team performance. • Use communication tools such as shift logbooks to stay informed about operational issues. • Record problems, challenges, and improvement opportunities on the team gap list. • Understand and contribute towards team goals. • Participate in relevant investigations and improvement activities when required. • Work collaboratively with production, maintenance, and specialist support teams.
PROBLEM-SOLVING AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
The successful candidate will be expected to identify opportunities to improve the production process and reduce waste.
This includes:
• Monitoring process trends and variations. • Using control charts and trend analysis to identify potential sources of waste. • Analysing short stops and recurring production interruptions. • Using problem-solving tools to identify improvement opportunities. • Working with team members and specialist resources to implement solutions. • Verifying that corrective actions have successfully resolved identified problems.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• N6 Electrical Qualification. • Electrical Trade Test.
