What Will You Do?

As a General Assistant (Facilities), you’ll help keep the organisation’s buildings, equipment and infrastructure in good working condition.

Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:

  • Carrying out general maintenance and repairs.
  • Supporting preventative and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Assisting with plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting tasks.
  • Responding to facilities and maintenance requests.
  • Supporting facilities improvement projects.
  • Assisting with contractors and maintenance teams.
  • Safely using hand tools, power tools and maintenance equipment.
  • Identifying potential hazards and reporting risks.
  • Following Occupational Health and Safety procedures.
  • Maintaining accurate records and completing required administrative tasks.
  • Helping create a safe and productive workplace environment.

Who Should Apply?

This Ampath General Assistant job is suited to a practical and dependable person who enjoys working with their hands and solving everyday maintenance challenges.

You should have:

  • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4 equivalent) or N3.
  • Up to 3 years’ experience in building maintenance, handyman work or a related environment.
  • Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting.
  • Understanding of general maintenance practices.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to work with a CAFM system.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Good written and spoken English.
  • Completed required SHE training.
  • A valid South African Code B driver’s licence.
  • Willingness to travel when required.
