About the Role
The Waste Truck Driver will play an important role in ensuring the effective management and removal of waste from SAAT and SAA operational premises. The position involves collecting general refuse and transporting it to approved landfill facilities while following appropriate safety and waste-disposal procedures.
In addition to general waste removal, the successful candidate will support recycling initiatives by collecting paper and cardboard materials for recycling. The role requires a strong focus on workplace cleanliness, responsible waste management, road safety, and compliance with organisational policies and procedures.
The incumbent will also be expected to maintain the assigned vehicle in good condition, ensuring that it remains clean, properly serviced, and compliant with relevant licensing requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect refuse from designated areas and transport it safely to approved landfill sites.
- Ensure waste is removed and disposed of in a timely and efficient manner.
- Collect paper and cardboard boxes and ensure recyclable materials are handled appropriately.
- Support waste separation and recycling initiatives within operational areas.
- Maintain the cleanliness and general condition of the waste collection vehicle.
- Ensure the vehicle’s licensing and servicing requirements are kept up to date.
- Operate waste collection equipment safely and responsibly.
- Comply with applicable road safety standards and traffic regulations.
- Follow organisational health, safety, environmental, and waste-management procedures.
- Report and comply with required processes relating to accidents and incidents.
- Work collaboratively with relevant departments to ensure uninterrupted waste removal services.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent – NQF Level 4 (Essential)
- Valid Code C Driver’s Licence (Essential)
- Public Driver’s Permit (PDP) (Essential)
- At least 6 months’ experience in General Aviation (Essential)
