About the Role
The Financial Clerk will support the hospital’s finance department by ensuring accurate financial administration, procurement, stock management, and asset control. The successful candidate will work closely with various hospital departments to maintain financial records, manage inventory, and ensure compliance with Mediclinic’s financial policies and procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Financial Administration
- Administer and reconcile petty cash.
- Prepare financial documentation and maintain accurate records.
- Reconcile daily financial transactions.
- Assist with financial reporting and audits.
Procurement and Supply Chain
- Perform operational buying and procurement activities.
- Receive operational procurement orders.
- Receive and process stock procurement.
- Coordinate stock replenishment.
- Maintain supplier relationships.
- Follow procurement policies and procedures.
Stock and Inventory Management
- Issue stock to departments.
- Conduct regular stock balance reviews.
- Participate in stock counts and stock takes.
- Organise and maintain the hospital storeroom.

Asset Management
- Verify hospital equipment and assets.
- Maintain the asset register.
- Process transfers, disposals and scrapping of assets.
- Assist with annual asset verification exercises.
Revenue and Cash Management
- Collect and reconcile patient administration cash.
- Prepare daily deposits.
- Request tax invoices for sundry customers.
- Follow up to ensure outstanding payments are received.
Systems Administration
- Serve as the SAP Financial Super User.
- Capture and update financial information accurately.
- Support users with finance-related system processes.
Minimum Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Matric).
Advantageous Qualifications
- Certificate in Accounting.
- Diploma in Accounting.
- Financial Management qualification.
- Business Management qualification.
Experience Required
Essential
- 1–2 years’ experience in:
- Financial administration
- Bookkeeping
- Bank reconciliations
- Asset management
Preferred
- Previous experience as a Financial Clerk.
- Experience in a hospital or healthcare environment.
- Experience using SAP accounting software.
Knowledge and Skills
Applicants should have knowledge of:
- SAP Accounting Software
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)
- Stock control and inventory management
