Purpose of the Role
The Stock Counter will be responsible for ensuring accurate stock management by receiving deliveries, monitoring inventory movements, conducting regular stock counts, distributing stock to operational departments, maintaining stock records, and resolving inventory discrepancies. The role is essential in ensuring products are available when needed while minimising waste and stock losses.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate)
- Basic computer literacy
- Good written and spoken Business English
- Knowledge of stock receiving procedures
- Experience with stock movement and inventory control
- Understanding of stock administration processes
- Knowledge of temperature-sensitive product storage requirements
- Ability to work in confined spaces

Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management
- Receive deliveries and verify quantities against purchase orders
- Inspect incoming goods for quality and damage
- Record all stock accurately
- Maintain organised storage areas
- Monitor inventory levels daily
- Conduct regular stock counts, cycle counts, and spot checks
- Ensure stock rotation using FIFO principles where applicable
Temperature-Controlled Stock Handling
- Store chilled and frozen products according to Clover standards
- Monitor storage conditions
- Protect product quality by following food safety procedures
- Remove expired, damaged, or recalled products immediately
Stock Distribution
- Supply stock to the Clover Café
- Distribute products to the Clover Shop
- Deliver stock to building kitchens
- Ensure departments receive the correct products and quantities
- Assist with inventory requests and stock queries
Administration and Reporting
- Maintain accurate stock records
- Submit invoices for processing
- Process stock returns
- Complete inventory documentation

- Record shortages, damages, and adjustments
Stock Variance Investigation
- Investigate stock differences
