Salary

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 10 qualification.
• Relevant experience operating and maintaining heavy specialised plant equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
• At least 2 years’ experience in a similar environment.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual outdoor work.

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

• Operating specialised machinery used in maintaining sports fields, stadiums, and hard courts.
• Cutting grass, top dressing, and marking sports fields using appropriate equipment.
• Applying fertilisers and chemicals according to supervisor instructions.
• Irrigating sports fields using manual, mechanical, and automatic irrigation systems.
• Cleaning, servicing, and safely storing machinery and horticultural equipment.
• Maintaining drainage ditches and removing hazardous objects to protect equipment and personnel.
• Inspecting machinery before and after use to ensure safe operation.
• Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to the immediate supervisor.
• Following manufacturer operating procedures and workplace safety regulations.
• Delivering quality turf maintenance to municipal standards.
• Adhering to Batho Pele principles and maintaining a professional work ethic.
