Purpose of the Position

The Branch Co-Ordinator serves as the central point of coordination for branch administration and laboratory support functions. The successful candidate will ensure that specimens, documentation, patient information, and administrative processes flow efficiently from start to finish while maintaining compliance, quality standards, and excellent customer service.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate (Essential)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ administrative experience
  • Experience within a pathology laboratory, healthcare facility, or pathology care centre will be advantageous
  • Strong understanding of administrative and operational processes
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent organisational and coordination skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office and relevant information systems
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Administrative Coordination

  • Managing daily branch administrative activities
  • Coordinating workflow processes between departments
  • Monitoring completion of operational tasks
  • Ensuring documentation is completed accurately and on time
  • Maintaining document control procedures

Laboratory Support

  • Assisting with specimen receiving and processing procedures
  • Verifying specimen information and documentation
  • Ensuring correct specimen labelling and batching
  • Coordinating specimen shipments where required
  • Following up on outstanding laboratory requests

Patient and Client Service

  • Assisting patients with forms and administrative enquiries
  • Supporting clinicians with requests and documentation
  • Responding promptly to stakeholder queries
  • Ensuring a professional and positive patient experience

Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Monitoring administrative trends and recurring issues
  • Implementing corrective actions where necessary
  • Ensuring compliance with company procedures and healthcare standards
  • Performing audit corrections and system updates

Team Coordination

  • Assisting with staff workflow planning
  • Supporting roster management
  • Monitoring attendance and operational adherence
  • Providing guidance and support to team members
  • Participating in performance discussions and coaching activities
