Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 10, AET Level 5, or Grade 12 qualification
- School report with official school stamp and logo
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a food service environment
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding of Batho Pele Principles and customer service
- Ability to work under pressure in a busy healthcare environment
- Physical fitness to perform manual and standing duties
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
- Reliability, honesty, and a strong work ethic
Added Advantage
- Previous experience in a hospital, clinic, care centre, or institutional food service environment
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will:
- Assist with meal preparation for patients
- Prepare ingredients for normal and therapeutic diets
- Cook and serve meals according to dietary requirements
- Ensure food is prepared safely and hygienically
- Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, pots, plates, and workstations
- Wash and sanitize food preparation areas
- Maintain cleanliness of fridges, freezers, storerooms, drains, and grids
- Receive, unpack, and store food supplies correctly
- Monitor food storage and stock rotation procedures
- Follow departmental food service policies and safety regulations
- Support other team members when required
- Rotate between different sections of the food service unit
