Job Purpose
The Warehouse Checker is responsible for ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance in all warehouse operations. This includes verifying stock movements, maintaining product integrity, ensuring traceability, and supporting strong stock control systems in line with company policies and FMCG standards.

Key Responsibilities
Stock Accuracy & Verification
- Verify all picked, received, staged, and loaded stock
- Check quantities, batch numbers, and best-before dates
- Inspect pallet condition and documentation accuracy
- Prevent stock errors, losses, and customer claims
Inventory Control
- Update bin cards and stock records
- Participate in cycle counts and full stock counts
- Ensure alignment between physical stock and system records
- Maintain full product traceability
Housekeeping & Warehouse Standards
- Maintain “clean-as-you-go” warehouse environment
- Ensure audit readiness at all times
- Support organised and safe warehouse layout
Damage Control & Reporting
- Identify and report damaged stock or pallets
- Ensure proper repacking, disposal, and documentation
- Provide photographic evidence where required
- Minimise warehouse losses

Health, Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all SHE and food safety standards
- Ensure correct stacking heights and hygiene practices
- Enforce allergen control and stock rotation rules
- Support safe working environment practices
Documentation & Administration
- Process inbound and outbound documentation accurately
- Sign off picking slips, receiving documents, and loading records
- Ensure CHEP pallet tracking and compliance
- Submit documentation timeously
Operational Support
- Support team performance targets and daily operations
- Assist with equipment checks and operational readiness
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with HR and operational procedures
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Grade 12 (Matric)
Experience
- 2–3 years’ experience as a Picker/Checker in an FMCG warehouse environment
- Warehouse-related learnership is an advantage
Skills & Competencies
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong numerical and checking ability
- Ability to identify discrepancies and stock variances
- Good communication and reporting skills
- Strong understanding of warehouse policies and procedures
- Ability to work under pressure and meet targets
