SUPPLY CHAIN CLERK X2 VACANCY

Department of Social Development

The Department of Social Development is hiring two (2) Supply Chain Clerks to join its Supply Chain Management Directorate at Head Office in Johannesburg. This is an excellent entry-level government opportunity for candidates with Grade 12 who want to start a career in procurement, logistics, and asset management within the public sector.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) certificate or equivalent
  • No work experience required
  • Basic understanding of supply chain management duties
  • Computer literacy and data capturing ability
  • Ability to work with records and statistics

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Asset Management Support

  • Maintain and update asset registers
  • Issue furniture, equipment, and accessories
  • Identify obsolete and non-serviceable assets
  • Support asset disposal processes
  • Verify asset records and documentation

Procurement & Demand Management

  • Capture supplier information on LOGIS or similar systems
  • Register suppliers and maintain supplier database
  • Request and evaluate quotations
  • Capture specifications on electronic procurement systems
  • Place and track purchase orders

Logistics Support

  • Receive goods from suppliers and verify delivery
  • Capture goods into registers and databases
  • Issue goods to end users
  • Maintain stock and goods registers
  • Support internal logistics and distribution processes

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Administrative and record-keeping skills
  • Basic knowledge of procurement systems
  • Computer literacy (MS Office or equivalent systems)
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a structured government environment
