Job Purpose
The Master Data Administrator plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of master data across the organisation’s enterprise systems.
This includes the creation, maintenance, governance, and continuous improvement of Customer, Supplier, Product, Pricing, and Financial master data across ERP systems and external platforms such as 3PL and 4PL service providers.
The role supports business continuity by ensuring that reliable and high-quality data is available for reporting, decision-making, compliance, and operational efficiency across all business units.
Key Responsibilities
Master Data Management
- Create, update, and maintain master data records for customers, suppliers, products, and pricing structures
- Ensure all master data is complete, validated, and aligned with business rules and governance frameworks
- Maintain data consistency across multiple ERP systems and integrated platforms
- Perform regular data cleansing, validation, and reconciliation activities
Data Governance & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to organisational data governance policies and standards
- Support audits by providing accurate and traceable data records
- Maintain compliance with internal controls and industry standards (including GS1 product data standards)
- Identify and escalate data risks or inconsistencies where necessary

Systems & ERP Support
- Manage data uploads, mass updates, and system interfaces
- Support ERP system integrity (including Microsoft Dynamics GP / Great Plains where applicable)
- Assist with troubleshooting system and data-related issues
- Collaborate with IT and business teams to improve data workflows
Reporting & Analysis
- Generate and support accurate master data reports for business use
- Assist in identifying trends, anomalies, and data quality issues
- Provide insights to improve operational efficiency through better data usage
Stakeholder Support
- Provide support to internal departments such as Finance, Supply Chain, Sales, and Operations
- Respond to master data queries in a timely and professional manner
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on data-related projects and initiatives
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in master data improvement projects and system enhancements
- Contribute to process optimisation and automation initiatives
- Maintain and update user guides, SOPs, and documentation
- Support training initiatives related to master data processes
Operational Support
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of data requests within SLA requirements
- Provide after-hours support when required for critical business operations
- Assist with pricing updates and maintenance within FMCG systems
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Grade 12 / Matric (Essential)
- Diploma or Degree in Information Systems, Finance, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field (Advantageous)
Experience
- 2–3 years’ experience in Master Data Management, ERP systems, or data administration
- Experience in FMCG, manufacturing, or supply chain environment (Strong advantage)
- Exposure to product lifecycle, pricing structures, or inventory systems preferred
Technical Skills
- Advanced Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel – pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis tools)
- ERP systems experience (Microsoft Dynamics GP / Great Plains advantageous)
- Knowledge of data structures, data validation, and data governance principles
- Familiarity with GS1 standards for product data management
- Experience with mass data uploads and interface management
