Job Overview

Mediclinic is looking for a detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join its Corporate Office finance team in Stellenbosch. This role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, supporting month-end reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting procedures.

Main Duties

  • Prepare and process journal entries.
  • Verify supplier invoices and petty cash claims before payment.
  • Generate ad-hoc debtor invoices and perform account clearing.
  • Reconcile control and balance sheet accounts.
  • Manage and report on Guardrisk malpractice claim transactions.
  • Maintain and administer Medical Innovations loan accounts.
  • Assist with monthly financial close processes.
  • Support financial reporting and accounting projects.
  • Perform additional finance-related tasks as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BCom Degree in Accounting (essential).
  • 3–5 years of relevant accounting or finance experience.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Skills

  • SAP experience.
  • Strong reconciliation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant should be organized, analytical, and capable of handling multiple financial processes while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Experience with month-end procedures and corporate accounting environments will be advantageous.
