Job Overview

Glencore is seeking a Control Room Security Operator responsible for real-time surveillance monitoring, incident escalation, and coordination of emergency responses at the Boshoek Smelter.

This role plays a key part in maintaining site safety, asset protection, and operational security continuity.

What You’ll Do

  • Monitor live CCTV feeds across the entire site
  • Review recorded footage for incidents, irregular activity, and investigations
  • Operate and manage the control room communication systems
  • Coordinate rapid response during emergencies or security breaches
  • Dispatch security teams and liaise with emergency services when required
  • Maintain accurate, time-stamped security logs and incident registers
  • Compile detailed incident reports and escalate critical events
  • Identify and report faults in surveillance and alarm systems
  • Support audits and compliance checks on security systems

  • Staying alert for long monitoring shifts in a high-focus environment
  • Making quick, accurate decisions under pressure
  • Ensuring every incident is documented clearly and professionally
  • Supporting on-the-ground security teams with real-time intelligence

Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • PSIRA Grade B (advantageous but not compulsory)
  • Minimum 2 years security experience
  • Experience in a control room / CCTV monitoring environment preferred
  • Strong computer literacy (reporting systems, logs, basic software use)
  • Good communication skills (radio, phone, incident reporting)
  • Ability to remain focused during extended monitoring periods
