Main Purpose of the Job

The purpose of this role is to transport and escort patients, equipment, files, and related items between hospital departments while ensuring patient safety, comfort, confidentiality, and dignity at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Transportation

• Safely transport and escort patients to designated locations within the hospital
• Assist patients during movement between wards, departments, and treatment areas
• Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout transportation

Emergency Support

• Assist with hospital evacuations during emergency situations
• Follow internal emergency response and evacuation procedures

Driver Duties

• Perform driving functions as requested by the hospital
• Adhere to hospital transport policies and operational guidelines
• Ensure safe transportation practices at all times

Patient Care and Confidentiality

• Protect patient privacy and confidential information
• Uphold patient rights and the values of Mediclinic
• Deliver professional and respectful customer service

Minimum Requirements

Essential Education

• Grade 10 qualification

Desired Education

• No additional qualification required

Essential Experience

• Experience in customer service or dealing with members of the public

Desired Experience

• Healthcare experience
• Caregiving or patient support experience
• Experience working in a hospital or clinic environment

• Valid driver’s licence with PDP (Professional Driving Permit)
