Job Purpose
The Packer is responsible for ensuring finished products are packed correctly, labelled accurately, stacked safely, and prepared for storage or distribution while maintaining PepsiCo’s strict quality and food safety standards.
The role plays an important part in ensuring customers receive products that meet company quality expectations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be expected to:
- Operate within the packing department.
- Check printers before production starts.
- Ensure packaging equipment is functioning properly.
- Verify the presentation and appearance of finished products.
- Inspect pallets before loading.
- Record bag weights manually.
- Confirm correct product barcodes.
- Wrap finished products neatly.
- Ensure pallets are stacked safely.
- Check the integrity of wrapped products.
- Report damaged packaging immediately.
- Keep the work area clean and organised.
- Follow production schedules.
- Work according to food safety procedures.
- Comply with Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
- Assist supervisors with production-related tasks.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or NQF Level 4 qualification.
- At least 12 months of experience in a packing, manufacturing, warehouse, or production environment.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of health and safety standards.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work shifts when required.
- Good physical fitness for standing, lifting, and repetitive tasks.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
