Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10–11 (authentic school report) or Grade 12 certificate/equivalent qualification.
- Knowledge of laundry and linen services.
- Sewing skills will be an added advantage.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Knowledge of Batho Pele Principles.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual labour.
- Willingness to rotate within the scope of work.
- Must be prepared to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and deliver linen bags from hospital wards.
- Operate laundry equipment including washing machines, dryers, and pressing machines.
- Iron, fold, count, pack, and seal linen and clothing bags.
- Sort, count, and record dirty linen and clothing.
- Tie and label dirty linen bags.
- Repair and mend torn linen.
- Participate in linen inventory counts.
- Clean and maintain linen trolleys.
- Ensure ward personnel sign linen delivery checklists.
- Assist with other linen section duties as directed by supervisors.
- Follow instructions from supervisors and management.
- Apply Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards.
- Adhere to Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) protocols.
- Attend training sessions and meetings as approved.
- Participate in Performance Management and Development System processes.
