About the Internship

The internship is designed to equip graduates with valuable work experience in medical management within the public sector. Interns will work alongside experienced professionals and receive practical training in healthcare administration, medical claims management, and payment assessment processes.

Key Duties and Learning Areas

During the internship, you will gain experience in:

  • Drafting medical undertakings
  • Activating undertakings
  • Reviewing medical accounts and bills
  • Processing medical pre-authorisations
  • Preparing treatment plans
  • Assessing medical payments
  • Processing caregiver payment claims
  • Conducting trust and curator payment assessments
  • Supporting medical management and claims administration
  • Working with healthcare professionals and internal stakeholders
  • Maintaining accurate medical records and documentation

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be 18–25 years old
  • Be unemployed
  • Have never been employed in the relevant field
  • Never have participated in a Medical Management internship before
  • Hold a Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Health Sciences or another Medical-related qualification
  • Submit certified copies of:
    • South African ID
    • Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
    • Qualification(s)
    • Academic transcript
  • Submit an updated CV
  • Submit a motivational letter (maximum three pages)
